Will the PS2 version work on PS3?

After getting a PS3, I've packed away my PS2 and was wondering if the new game will work on the PS3 (european version). The european version PS3 only has software compatibility and I have found that only a quarter of my PS2 software collection works on it.

I think you can download an update that helps with PS2 games.

I still have my slim PS2 out, its so small it takes no space next to the PS3 and XBox360 so there is no point in putting it away.
Sony has a list of PS2 games and how well they work on PS3 on its website
I only tried a few PS2 games on the PS3 to see how it works, the game that was listed with 3 lines on sony's website (meaning it should work fine) had problems (loss of frames etc...), the game with 1 line worked fine

I'm very glad to tell you that we've tried SBK-07 on the PS3 and it's really fantastic!
It works very well and with HD TV and HDMI cable you can play SBK-07 with a very high visual sense quality
