THIRD AND FOURTH ROW FOR NIETO AND LACONI
(28-04-2007)
Tenth time for Fonsi Nieto and the thirteenth for Regis Laconi. These are the results achieved from the Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team in this fifth seasonal Superpole performed on the dutch track of Assen. The team was expecting something more but the problematical tests didn’t allow them to reach something more than a third and fourth row.
Nieto has still some problems to use the qualification tyre in the best way. Anyway he reached a good race pace and this increases the possibilities to achieve a good position maybe near the podium. More complicated is Laconi’s situation which shows Regis with a bike still difficult to ride and that could limit him in a defense round. But he still can react in tomorrow’s warm up.
FONSI NIETO: “Telling the truth I’m not happy about the situation. The problem is that I can’t go faster with the qualification tyre than the competition. The Superpole didn’t go so bad but obviously it penalized me. That could mean that we are up to the limit right now and we have to work harder to solve the problems. The positive thing is that I reached a good race pace. I’m not saying that we are in a condition to win but I think that I can achieve a sixth or seventh position. I’ve already decided which rear tyre to use tomorrow, the hard one, and I’ll give my best to get a positive result”.
REGIS LACONI: “ There’s not so much to say. We haven’t found a satisfying set up. The bike is dancing under me all the time and it’s really difficult to ride it. We tried everything, maybe now we have to reset and open the mind to solve the problem in a different way. Tomorrow there’s still the warm up to try to improve the situation, otherwise the races will become really complicated”.
